Sever: Captain America & RIP Street Art
While a significant amount of graffiti writers currently take to the streets of Detroit with bombing and traditional productions, Sever stopped by dropping two different stand out pieces. The first mural is a jab at street art; Sever painting suited character icons of street art Kaws, Twist, Bansky, Futura, Shepard Fairey, and Os Gemeos carrying a coffin labeled street art.
In L.A.: RIME & KC, DABS MYLA @ Known Gallery

Art Exhibition for “Snow White and the Huntsman” Now Accepting Submissions
Universal Pictures, the studio behind the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, announced a call for artists to submit work inspired by the film. The artwork submitted for the exhibition can be in any medium, and the winner will have his or her piece displayed in a pop-up gallery alongside the work of a prominent LA artist, as well as pieces by three-time Oscar-winner Colleen Atwood (costume designer on the film). Entrants must be 18 years of age, and the work submitted must not include any recognizable likenesses of the film’s stars.
Escif Channels the Tlatelolco Massacre @ All City Canvas, Mexico City
There is no question that Valencia, Spain-based Escif has some of the most politically aware and intelligent street work being produced today. Each piece, even his simple sentences, have a backstory that pertains to the space and place in which he does the public work. This is case with his brilliant piece at All City Canvas in Mexico City, where Escif painted a huge mural on the side of the politically historic Chihuahua apartment building.
Opening: Ryan McGinley "Animals" & "Grids" @ Team Gallery, NYC
Ryan McGinley opened two simultaneous exhibitions at Team Gallery's two locations in SOHO, NYC this past week, Animals and Grids (Atlas Sound playing the roof for the openings... good touch). We stopped by to see both shows this weekend, and while Grids has a incredibly clean presentation, Animals was one of our favorite, most memorable shows of the entire weekend of Frieze activities.

Today is your last chance to check out the NADA show in NYC, the the inaugural edition of NADA NYC with over 60 international galleries from 24 cities representing 11 countries. We took a long time walking through the four floors that NADA took up on West 22nd Street, and saw outstanding booths from Alden Projects of NYC, Loyal of Malmo, Sweden, Nanzuka of Tokyo, and Galerie Hussenot of Paris. We love a good handmade, DIY project, especially because we have a fondest for our Juxtapoz Handmade Art book. We just came across Evelin Kasikov's Portrait Project, where the artist is creating 10 stitched portraits, all based on the same grid with different methods and thread thickness. The results are quite cool...
Phlegm's Cubed Canvas in the Woods
This concrete cube was oddly positioned in the depths of the woods, and fortunately for U.K.-based artist, Phlegm, the unique canvas worked perfectly for his crouching and falling characters.
