Opening: Pedro Matos "Heritage" @ Ivory and Black, LondonJuxtapoz // Tuesday, 01 May 2012
Pedro Matos, whom we last saw showing at White Walls in San Francisco, just opened a new solo show, Heritage, at Ivory and Black in London this past weekend. “Heritage” features a new series of oil paintings on canvas and one site-specific installation, with each painting featuring unique layering consisting of different languages of painting, which combine texture, patterns, realistic figurative painting and text. Our London correspondent, Butterfly, made it to the opening.
From the gallery: "Inspired by the French philosopher Michel Foucault’s work, subject to his paintings and explorations are the themes/concepts of Knowledge, Power, History, Sexuality, Discourse, Episteme and Impermanence. The exhibition will also comprise the release of a limited edition artist’s book of Pedro Matos’ work and life." Ah, Foucault. That is some bedside table reading.
Through June 9, 2012
