Paintings by Harry Holland

Juxtapoz // Saturday, 24 Dec 2011
Harry Holland is a British painter whose work has been acquired by numerous prominent collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Tate Gallery, the British Museum, along with many others. His paintings evoke references to neoclassicism and romanticism with nudes in arranged in dreamlike and sometimes verging on heroic settings.  In his painting Raft Three, one recognizes a distinct allusion to Géricault's masterwork Raft of the Medusa, while other works like Skyfly remind the viewer of romantic painters like Girodet.
