Sometimes we just want a little light-hearted fun on the site. Have you ever had a nice moment ruined by a selfie stick? Whether it was New Year's Eve in Vancouver or spring break on Maui, the Juxtapoz staff has had a deep fascination with selfie-sticks, even though we don't own one or have ever used one. But if we did, if we ever had to get to that point, we would use this "Selfie Arm" designed by Aric Snee and Justin Crowe. Because if you are going to have to use a selfie stick, do it with no friends and pretend like you have them.

The second year of the Natural Cannabis Company’s High Art challenge, hosted by Juxtapoz, has concluded as over 575 artists from 53 different countries submitted designs in hopes of gaining one of the top three prizes. The overwhelming response for the second year of the challenge underscores the ubiquity and worldwide interest in the cannabis movement and no doubt sets the stage for continued growth with the High Art challenge in 2016.

We all remember the classic scene in Sofia Coppola's "Lost In Translation" where Bill Murray's character is on set for the Suntory Whiskey commercial. "For relaxing times, make it Suntory time." Well, in real life, Suntory is trying to make your relaxing time a little more arty. The Japanese company, according to designboom has begun to create 3D ice cubes for their newest ad campaign.

A major exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany sheds new light on contemporary African design. Showcasing the work of over 120 artists and designers, Making Africa – A Continent of Contemporary Design illustrates how design accompanies and fuels economic and political changes on the continent. Africa is presented as a hub of experimentation generating new approaches and solutions of worldwide relevance – and as a driving force for a new discussion of the potential of design in the twenty-first century.

I don't want to expose too much of my inner nerd to the hundreds of thousands of people who read this site every few weeks, but when I saw these images of The World's Best Ever yesterday showing the model shop and behind-the-scenes look of the sci-fi classic "Blade Runner," I started to get all nostalgic for the "magic of the movies."

As you will see today, we are going on model-trend. This is a pretty cool story of Swiss artists Jojakim Cortis and Adrian Sonderegger taking time away from design jobs in 2012 to recreate the famous Andreas Gursky's Rhein II photograph using a "still life built completely in their studio." The end result turned into a series of models the duo created from some of the most famous photographs ever taken.

Considered one of Denmark's, not to mention the world's most influential 20th century furniture and interior designers, Verner Panton created innovative, funky and futuristic designs. We particularly love the "Visiona II" room he designed for an exhibition in Cologne in 1970...

We've previously admired Australian artist Dan McPharlin's incredible science fiction album covers (Prefuse 73, Pretty Lights). This series of sculptures by the artist are his attempt to pay tribute to early synthesizers and analog recording equipment. Rather than replicating existing machines, the focus was on creating a revisionist history where analogue technology continued to flourish uninterrupted. Each piece was hand-made from framing matt-boards, paper, plastic sheeting, string and rubber bands.

You've seen "Lost In Translation." And you probably have a friend right now in Tokyo going balls to the wall on their Instagram account taking photos of them. That's right, Tokyo is synonymous with lighted billboards, constant bombardments of advertisements, and just amazingly super-future streets. French designer, Nicolas Damiens, envisions Tokyo with no ads, sort of a Sao Paulo situation, and has created a series of Animated Gifs and photos with no ads, no logos, just blank Tokyo billboards.
