Eric Firestone Gallery is pleased to announce Kelsey Brookes: Plants Of The Gods. This solo exhibition will feature new monumental paintings based on Brookes’ scientific investigations into nature’s ancient botanical compounds. Specifically, one of four botanically derived hallucinogens-Muscimol, Ergoline, Scopolamine and Ibogaine-underscores each composition, taking you on a visually stimulating trip through the depths of time, back to the beginning. Brookes, featured in Juxtapoz in the past and easily one of our favorite artists of the moment, has his show run from June 20—July 7, 2015.

Juxtapoz is proud to announce the newest addition to our ongoing book series with Gingko Press, "Juxtapoz Psychedelic." The book serves as both a story of our magazine's origins and current state, with Psychedelic Art once again emerging as a fascinating and endlessly experimental genre. From classic names such as Alex Grey and Keiichi Tanaami to a new generation of universe expanders in Killian Eng and cover artist Andy Gillmore, Juxtapoz Psychedelic is one for the visionaries.

Judith Charles Gallery is delighted to present a solo exhibition of San Diego based artist, and past Juxtapoz featured artist, Kelsey Brookes. The exhibition, Better Living Through Chemistry, is Brookes' first solo show in New York and consists of entirely new work. From his background in molecular biology, Brookes has taken his knowledge of scientific images and expanded them into extremely intricate paintings that explore the mutability of human consciousness.

We would not be the first to note that Kelsey Brookes' artistic career did not follow the most traditional path. While attending university, he studied biology instead of painting and drawing, and not until practicing as a microbiologist for a few years and moving to San Diego did Brookes begin his career as a painter.

Artist Kelsey Brookes’ latest exhibition “Meditations on Symmetry” was recently on view at The Compound Project in Malibu, CA. Eliminating the figurative elements of his past work, this show finds Brookes favoring symmetrical abstract patterns and words, each painting a pool of concentric electric color. Check out this video that Kelsey posted on YouTube, giving a walkthrough of the show.

San Diego-based artist Kelsey Brookes' raw, vibrant, mixed-media assemblages represent microcosms of life at large, where smiley-faced characters and wilde animals cavort with abstract forms and splices of color to form something infinitely complex and visually joyful. Brookes recently opened a new show, "Meditations on Symmetry," in Malibu, CA.
