It seems wild that Swoon hasn't put out a book in over 12 years. The legendary street artist has gone through many different projects and iterations in this decade plus, from museum shows to stop-motion animations to personal triumph and strife. The Red Skein is the newest monograph that covers the last decade over the span of 224 pages, with essays and imagery that marks a turning point in the artist's career.

There are essays by art critics, street art writers, Melena Ryzik (who as Drago points out is the New York Times reporter who was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for reporting on workplace sexual harassment) and an introduction by bestselling author Dr. Gabor Mate, a Hungarian physician with huge expertise on a range of topics including addiction, stress, and childhood development. Like the work she makes, Swoon is about details and storytelling, and to have this range of text in her monograph is both a perfect balance with her work but also the best example of where her life has been at over the last decade. —Evan Pricco
