It's that time of year again, and it feels like we have a years-long relationship with the world-renowned A'Design Award and Competition, which gathers thousands of submissions to underline the best designs and well-designed products being made today. Or as they put it, "The A'Design Award and Competition aims to act as blender; to bring together designers, companies and the press." We have made a gallery above of some of the winners and designs we have loved in the past. Sure, you may not designing a hotel or an opera house (although those are some of our favorite categories), but packaging, public furniture design, toy design, future gadgets and textiles are all the types of over 100 categories you can submit under.
So we are at that time of year where if you have a design idea, early submissions are being taken now. Deadline for early submission is September 30. Results will be announced to public on April 15.
Here's the lowdown: The A' Design Award and Competition offers a unique system for designers to sell their winning ideas to sponsor companies, likewise the companies can bid for the competing design ideas and make offers to buy the designs. The system also provides an online exhibition system and creates free profile pages for designers, innovators and companies, this system is always on and whether you win or not, you will have full access to the system. This is an interactive system where you can write your biography or corporate profile, create an extensive online portfolio by adding additional designs and exhibit new designs or products.
What happens if you are one of the winners?: "The Laureates of the A’ Design Award & Competition get fame, prestige, recognition, credibility, publicity and international awareness, in addition to a comprehensive and extensive winners’ kit which includes everything you could potentially need to celebrate the success of winning the A’ Design Award. The A' Design Award Winners' Kit is called the "A' Design Prize" and it includes the 3D Printed Metal A' Design Award trophy in Black Luxury Box, the annual yearbook which is available in both digital and hardcopy versions (winners get both), printed design excellence certificate in metal frame, award winners manual which helps you get more out of your award status, free gala-night invitation for two people to the award ceremony, free participation and space allocation in the winners' exhibition (both online gallery inclusions as well as physical exhibition in Italy).
