Institut Culturel Bernard Magrez in Bordeaux, France currently is hosting a major exhibition, 1,2,3 Soleil, created by Paris-based artist Seth. The large showcase is taking over the multiple rooms of the historic château with paintings, interventions, sculptures and site-specific installations that demonstrate his playful vision and unique visual language. The exhibition is on view until October 7, 2019.

After a similar exhibition at MOCA Shanghai last year, 1,2,3, Soleil is Seth's first major and institutional showcase back in his homeland. Bridging the gap between street art and institutionalized fine art, the presentation provides a true journey into the universe of the artist.

The body of work is separated between many rooms in the château, organized around the theme of his various travels with each piece representing a different project corresponding to a different country. Some 50 characters are presented in the form of canvases, sculptures, photographs, or movies, extensively researching the connection between tradition, children at play, and modern-day urbanization. Using universal symbols such as books, colors or toys, the artist is commenting on the rapid modernization of the world and its effects on the minds of children. The immersive installation also includes works that the artists created in-situ, as well as a collaboration with other artists, including Seth's creative friends such as Chilean artist, Mono Gonzalez. —Sasha Bogojev
