Paul Wackers can compartmentalize our domestic life with electricity and movement. His still-lifes are full of energy and density, like a dream world of a living space but surreal enough where objects can appear out of place but function so well in his paintings. They are rich and lush, but not restrained. His newest solo show, Everything Enegy, on view at Jack Hanley Gallery East Hampton, has a pulse. They are signature Wackers' works but they have a new sense of freedom and restraint in a way that reflects the times we live; brimming with energy but trying to find the direction to go? —Evan Pricco
