An emerging generation of young painters who are exploring the possibilities of abstract painting. Knowing that Seattle-born Jean Nagai has spent recent years in California and New Mexico, mightily informs his observations of desert landscapes, where terrain and sunsets meld together to create almost unearthly light. His newest series of work, There is Know Center, opens at pt.2 Gallery in Oakland on September 14th, and details the grand tradition of landscape abstraction while it "explores a spiritual microcosm and macrocosm that shifts between the physical, digital and political landscape."

In conjunction with There is Know Center, Jean has additionally curated a group exhibition featuring the works of Chito K.K.Greg ShimadaJohanna JacksonJordan Ann CraigLilah Slager RoseMarkus MazzaPhoebe Rose and Rhiannon Griego. Also opening on September 14th is Nightmares In The Breakroom, a solo exhibition by Oakland based artist Robert Falco
