Denis Haračić’s exhibition Soul in Reminiscence opened at the Art Gallery BiH on January 8, 2026. The exhibition explores the fundamental condition of human and worldly exposure—how bodies, minds, and environments are continually shaped, challenged, and transformed by forces both internal and external. Far from treating illness or adversity as exceptions to life, Haračić frames them as integral to existence, confronting contemporary obsessions with optimization, control, and the illusion of purity.

At the heart of Soul in Reminiscence lies a meditation on malignancy—not simply as a medical or biological phenomenon, but as a pervasive principle infiltrating society’s economic, political, and psychological structures, as well as the intimate spaces of human experience. Haračić does not observe from a distance; he witnesses and participates, acknowledging the malignant as both a societal symptom and a personal reality. This approach gives the exhibition its profound resonance: it is not merely a diagnosis, but a process of understanding, healing, and striving toward balance.

Rooted in the local experience of Sarajevo—a city shaped by war, resilience, and coexistence—the exhibition examines transgenerational trauma as a force that quietly persists in memory, family, and society. Haračić highlights how historical events reverberate through both intimate and collective spaces, shaping identity, ethics, and perception. Art becomes a space for confrontation, reflection, and potential healing, offering viewers the opportunity to engage with the fractures of the past while considering paths toward restoration and equilibrium.

By situating universal questions within Sarajevo’s specific social and historical realities, Soul in Reminiscence bridges the personal and the collective, the local and the global. The exhibition invites audiences to reflect on exposure, memory, and resilience, emphasizing that healing begins with acknowledgment and understanding of the forces—both visible and invisible—that shape human experience. Haračić’s work is both a reflection on trauma and a call to consider the possibilities of recovery, empathy, and renewal in the face of persistent historical and societal challenges.
