Caleb Hahne Quintana paints the West with an intimate expanse. His narratives are personal but the way in which he approaches the setting is universal, as if we have all dreamt or been to the places he depicts. Characters look off into the distance, whether in nature, on a bluff or in the bath, as if deep in a memory, not aware the capture is happening. Quintana is part of the group show, The Salt of Two Seas, on at Newchild in Antwerp, a show the thread of Latin American storytelling. It fits beautifully with his subject matter; retracing and creating a new history for himself and the way the West was born. —Evan Pricco
